About Us . . .
Port of Hope got its
start in 1971 when a group of concerned citizens formed a
non-profit Idaho corporation. Soon thereafter we became a
tax-exempt 501c3 organization. At first we were just a sober
living house for alcoholics and addicts based in an old Basque
rooming house in Twin Falls. We later moved our main office to
our treatment center in Nampa. Over the past 38 years we have
continually modified and improved our treatment services and are
now one of the best and most effective treatment agencies in the
Northwest.
Port of Hope Centers
has 2 locations; Nampa and Coeur d’Alene. Both centers provide
social model/non-medical detoxification, intensive residential
treatment; aftercare treatment and 2 types of outpatient
programs as well as educational programs for DUI offenders and
family counseling.
Port of Hope Centers
has assisted and treated over 37,000 men and women over the
years and remains the oldest treatment organization in Idaho. We
have always been licensed by the State of Idaho and currently
meet the high Federal standards for health and safety.
While we are a
non-medical agency, we do have medical backup in the form of
medical centers near both locations for those rare occasions
when medical assistance or intervention is needed. Our centers
are purposely designed to be warm, homelike environments. Our
staff meet high standards to be part of our treatment team. Our
professional and paraprofessional staff are trained and
experienced. Our counseling staff are generally long-term
employees and many are themselves, recovering addicts and
alcoholics. Our programs are demanding and we do not admit
anyone who does not really want and need treatment. Our sole
purpose is to help and guide newly recovered women and men so
that they can have a firm foundation as they begin their
personal road to recovery.
